farming days

Thursdays, 10am - 3pm.
We visit a range of farms across Northumberland, travelling there from West Orchard House in our own Natural Ability vehicles, and get involved with hands-on farm activities all year round.

spring

Spring farming days can include: - Preparing for and delivering lambs - Bedding and feeding lambs - Penning and marking lambs - Trench digging and spreading manure

Summer farming days can include: - Clipping sheep and wrapping fleece - Wall building and fencing - Draining - Weighing lambs for mart - Greasing and preparing machinery

Autumn farming days can include: - Mucking out re-bedding sheds - Sorting sheep - Tours of local farms - Washing and maintaining machinery

Winter farming days can include: - Visits to city farms such as Ouseburn and Byker - Sorting and weighing lambs - Local mart trips - Repairing fences and gates - Washing and maintaining machinery
