Due to expansion and new opportunities Natural Ability require additional staff to join our Independent Supported Living in Hexham, Northumberland

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals who can support our clients to live independent and safe lives. You will be energetic and passionate about supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. You will support our clients with everyday needs as well as empowering them to engage fully in the community and activities that interest them.

Patience, kindness and strong interpersonal skills will be essential. Previous experience, professionalism and commitment to providing the highest standard of care and support are crucial. We also value flexibility, creativity and the ability to have fun and get involved, as a key element of the role is to support our clients in their personal hobbies, to access the community and maintain and develop social circles.

 

Our current Vacancies

SUPPORT WORKER - Hexham and Haltwhistle - (£9.25 per hour plus sleep ins).

All roles operate on a three week rotating including some evenings and weekends  (a minimum of one in three weekends off).

Full-time role - Female Only - ISL 042021

  • Average 37- 40 hours per week plus sleep-ins

  • Previous experience, driver and access to own vehicle is advantageous

  • Based in Hexham

Full-time role- ISL 0202021

  • Average 32 hours per week plus sleep-ins

  • Previous experience and driver essential (car not required).

  • Based in Hexham

Full-time role - ISL 032021

  • Average 30 hours per week plus sleep-ins

  • Previous experience, driver and access to own vehicle is advantageous

  • Based in Hexham

Part time role - weekends only - ISL 052021

  • Average of 12 hours per week (16 hours per week when working) - weekends only

  • 2 out of every 3 weekends (11am -7pm Saturday and Sunday)

  • Possibility of splitting into 2 roles  - one weekend every 3 weeks.

  • Previous experience, driver and access to own vehicle is advantageous

  • Based in Hexham

Guaranteed hours relief role - ISL 062021 (6 month FTC)

  • Relief role with guaranteed hours of 30 per week

  • Working across our services providing cover for holidays, training and sickness

  • Opportunity to select shifts which suit you

Support Worker Role Description

 

Would you like to join a small, supportive team to provide person centred-care and support for adult’s with learning disabilities in their own home and within the local community based in and around Hexham, Northumberland.

In this role you’ll support people with all aspects of their day-to-day living, promoting independence, to enable the people we support to live as independently as possible. The sorts of activities you will get involved in includes:

  • Attending activities outside the home including sports groups, gardening, arts and crafts, music classes, visits to the cinema and enjoying the great outdoors.

  • Supervising, educating and supporting with activities at home including cooking, cleaning, personal care and daily living tasks.

  • Supporting with health and wellbeing including administration of medicine, booking and going to medical appointments, supporting with healthy eating and being active.

Our roles are very varied and rewarding with no two days the same. As a support worker you provide a critical role in helping others to live a varied and rewarding life and by doing so get the same in return.​

Experience required

HEAD OFFICE ROLES

BUSINESS SUPPORT ASSISTANT Hexham

Salary: £19,500.00-£21,000.00 per year

We are looking for a Business Support Assistant to provide high level administration support across business functions within Natural Ability's Head Office team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be well organised, have high levels of accuracy with attention to detail and enjoy working as part of a busy and friendly team. They will have strong administration experience ideally across business functions but in particular Finance and/ or HR. If this sounds like the position for you, then please read on!

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

General

  • Responsible for dealing with a wide range of email and phone enquiries and correspondence – working on own initiative to take action as appropriate and referring issues to Managers.

  • Organising office rotas and arranging meetings, booking facilities/equipment, preparing agendas, attending meetings and producing and distributing minutes within agreed timescales.

  • Supporting the production of reports for projects, meetings and board.

  • Recording information, archiving and co-ordinating document retention in line with GDPR policy.

Human Resources

  • Supporting recruitment process - advertising roles, organising interviews and selection events, carrying out background checks, DBS monitoring and induction administration.

  • Supporting with issuing contractual paperwork including terms of employment, worker agreements, change letters.

  • Supporting with calculating annual leave entitlement for new starters and additional staff when changes in hour occur.

  • Updating and maintaining HR information systems.

  • Performing general HR administration.

Training

  • Supporting HR Advisor and Service Managers with the co-ordination of e-learning and classroom- based training.

  • Supporting HR Advisor to maintain the organisation training matrix.

Finance and Payroll

  • Supporting Finance Manager with administration of purchase ledger, petty cash and staff expenses.

  • Providing payroll support as and when needed and developing skills to carry out payroll when required.

Facilities administration

  • Sourcing and ordering office and service equipment e.g. stationery, furniture, laptops, printers and mobile phones.

  • Administration of equipment contracts and maintaining an asset log.

IT administration

  • Setting up new users on laptops and mobile phones.

  • Providing first line IT support for staff with IT problems/enquires

  • Updating and maintaining the website by adding, editing and deleting information. Working with managers to improve search engine optimisation by building internal and external links.

Marketing

  • Supporting communications internally and externally by adding messages on social media, creating posters and documents using Canva and other graphics design sites.

Volunteer Trustee (unpaid role)

We are seeking dynamic trustees who have the skills to help Natural Ability to grow its services for children and adults with learning difficulties in the North East. We are looking for individuals to join our Board who are passionate about offering choices, opportunities and enabling people with learning difficulties to live safe and independent lives across the region.

The main priorities of our trustees are to support the work of Natural Ability through strong strategic vision and leadership, oversee risk and compliance requirements, assist to raise the profile of the organisation and to maximise the organisation’s impact on the people it supports.

We are looking for individuals that have a strong interest in promoting opportunities and choice for people with learning difficulties and who will be committed to the ethos and values of the organisation. We are actively seeking candidates that have experience of finance and marketing and will value candidates that have previous experience in governance.

Candidates will be required to attend monthly Board meetings and may be required to support at other times in relation to specific events or marketing opportunities.

The post of Trustee is unpaid, however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Natural Ability began as the brainchild of one determined parent and her friend who was acutely aware of the gap in provision for her own son.  From there we have grown to provide support via independent supported living services, day services and provide an alternative education provision.  We provide bespoke support unique to the individual and believe that everyone regardless of ability has the right to make choices about how they live their lives.
