SUPPORT WORKER - Hexham 

All roles operate on a three week rotating including some evenings and weekends  (a minimum of one in three weekends off).

Full-time role Hexham - Female Only - ISL 082021 £9.25 per hour plus sleep ins

Annual Salary £22,000 - 25,000 per annum

  • Full time role 39 hours per week 

  • Weekdays and weekends plus sleep ins

  • Previous experience is advantageous

  • Driver and access to own vehicle is advantageous

  • Based in Hexham

Full-time role Hexham - ISL 092021 £9.25 per hour plus sleep ins

Annual Salary £20,000 - 23,000 per annum

Support Worker Role Description

 

Would you like to join a small, supportive team to provide person centred-care and support for adult’s with learning disabilities in their own home and within the local community based in and around Hexham, Northumberland.

In this role you’ll support people with all aspects of their day-to-day living, promoting independence, to enable the people we support to live as independently as possible. The sorts of activities you will get involved in includes:

  • Attending activities outside the home including sports groups, gardening, arts and crafts, music classes, visits to the cinema and enjoying the great outdoors.

  • Supervising, educating and supporting with activities at home including cooking, cleaning, personal care and daily living tasks.

  • Supporting with health and wellbeing including administration of medicine, booking and going to medical appointments, supporting with healthy eating and being active.

Our roles are very varied and rewarding with no two days the same. As a support worker you provide a critical role in helping others to live a varied and rewarding life and by doing so get the same in return.​

Experience required

We value professionalism, commitment to providing the highest standards of care and support, teamwork, compassion, flexibility, creativity and the ability to have fun and get involved. You will need to have basic IT skills to update information and complete tasks whilst in service.

Some roles require previous experience whereas for others this may not be essential - please refer to specific job for details. 

A drivers licence and car is often an advantage but for many role this is not essential - please refer to specific job for details.

£10.59 - £11.14 per hour (including holiday pay) - various relief hours available including evenings and weekends.  ​

Volunteer Trustee (unpaid role)

We are seeking dynamic trustees who have the skills to help Natural Ability to grow its services for children and adults with learning difficulties in the North East. We are looking for individuals to join our Board who are passionate about offering choices, opportunities and enabling people with learning difficulties to live safe and independent lives across the region.

The main priorities of our trustees are to support the work of Natural Ability through strong strategic vision and leadership, oversee risk and compliance requirements, assist to raise the profile of the organisation and to maximise the organisation’s impact on the people it supports.

We are looking for individuals that have a strong interest in promoting opportunities and choice for people with learning difficulties and who will be committed to the ethos and values of the organisation. We are actively seeking candidates that have experience of finance and marketing and will value candidates that have previous experience in governance.

Candidates will be required to attend monthly Board meetings and may be required to support at other times in relation to specific events or marketing opportunities.

The post of Trustee is unpaid, however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

About Us

Natural Ability began as the brainchild of one determined parent and her friend who was acutely aware of the gap in provision for her own son.  From there we have grown to provide support via independent supported living services, day services and provide an alternative education provision.  We provide bespoke support unique to the individual and believe that everyone regardless of ability has the right to make choices about how they live their lives.
