Due to expansion and new opportunities Natural Ability require additional staff to join our Independent Supported Living team in Hexham, Northumberland

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals who can support our clients to live independent and safe lives. You will be energetic and passionate about supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. You will support our clients with everyday needs as well as empowering them to engage fully in the community and activities that interest them.

Patience, kindness and strong interpersonal skills will be essential. Previous experience, professionalism and commitment to providing the highest standard of care and support are crucial. We also value flexibility, creativity and the ability to have fun and get involved, as a key element of the role is to support our clients in their personal hobbies, to access the community and maintain and develop social circles.

 

Current Vacancies

Independent Supported Living 

Support Worker - £8.47 to £10.20 per hour - 22.3 hours a week - 3 week rotating shift pattern including evenings and weekends

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic support worker to provide person-centred care for two young men with learning disabilities living in their own home in central Hexham.

You will be actively involved in promoting and encouraging them to make their own choices, supporting them to pursue their interests, which include dj'ing, music and transport, and to make their goals and ambitions achievable.

Patience, kindness and strong interpersonal skills will be essential to help these men to live fulfilling lives by encouraging them to reach their potential, providing new opportunities and supporting them to get involved in the local community.

Support Workers - £8.47 to £10.20 per hour - various hours available full and part time.  

 

We are currently recruiting for committed and enthusiastic support workers to provide person-centred care and support to adults with

learning disabilities living in their own home in Hexham. Previous experience, professionalism and commitment to providing the highest

standard of care and support are crucial. We also value flexibility, creativity and the ability to have fun and get involved. A UK driving

license and access to your own vehicle would be an advantage so you can travel to different activities and events.

Relief Support Workers - £8.65 to £9.10 per hour  - various relief hours available including evenings and weekends.  ​

Enabling Support Worker - £8.47 per hour. 12 hours per week (one evening and every Saturday)

We are currently recruiting for a female support worker to work in an enabling capacity with a young lady with learning disabilities. You will be required to support the young lady to undertake social and leisure activities in the community. Previous experience working in a social care setting or supporting people with learning disabilities would be beneficial but not essential.  Please quote ref ISL 012020. Volunteer Trustee (unpaid role)

We are seeking dynamic trustees who have the skills to help Natural Ability to grow its services for children and adults with learning difficulties in the North East. We are looking for individuals to join our Board who are passionate about offering choices, opportunities and enabling people with learning difficulties to live safe and independent lives across the region.

The main priorities of our trustees are to support the work of Natural Ability through strong strategic vision and leadership, oversee risk and compliance requirements, assist to raise the profile of the organisation and to maximise the organisation’s impact on the people it supports.

We are looking for individuals that have a strong interest in promoting opportunities and choice for people with learning difficulties and who will be committed to the ethos and values of the organisation. We are actively seeking candidates that have experience of finance and marketing and will value candidates that have previous experience in governance.

Candidates will be required to attend monthly Board meetings and may be required to support at other times in relation to specific events or marketing opportunities.

The post of Trustee is unpaid, however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

About Us

Natural Ability began as the brainchild of one determined parent and her friend who was acutely aware of the gap in provision for her own son.  From there we have grown to provide support via independent supported living services, day services and provide an alternative education provision.  We provide bespoke support unique to the individual and believe that everyone regardless of ability has the right to make choices about how they live their lives.
