We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals who can support our clients to live independent and safe lives. You will be energetic and passionate about supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. You will support our clients with everyday needs as well as empowering them to engage fully in the community and activities that interest them.

Patience, kindness and strong interpersonal skills will be essential. Previous experience, professionalism and commitment to providing the highest standard of care and support are crucial. We also value flexibility, creativity and the ability to have fun and get involved, as a key element of the role is to support our clients in their personal hobbies, to access the community and maintain and develop social circles.

SUPPORT WORKERS x 3 Full time positions available - Hexham, Northumberland

£8.92 to £10.74 per hour (32 - 42 hours per week + sleep ins)

We are currently recruiting for committed and enthusiastic support workers to provide person-centred care and support for a young man with learning disabilities living in his own home in Hexham. 

In this role you will be actively involved in promoting and encouraging this man to make his own choices, and supporting him to pursue his interests, which include gardening and cooking. 

Whilst previous experience is advantageous, it is not essential.  We value professionalism, commitment to providing the highest standard of care and support, compassion, flexibility, creativity and the ability to have fun and get involved.  A UK driving license and access to your own vehicle would be an advantage so you can travel to different activities and events.

SUPPORT WORKER  - Hexham, Northumberland

We are currently recruiting for  a committed and enthusiastic support worker to provide person-centred care and support for two young men with learning disabilities living in their own home in Hexham.

In this role you will be actively involved in promoting and encouraging two young men to make their own choices, and supporting them to pursue there interests, which include music, dj-ing, transport and the great outdoors.

SUPPORT WORKER  - Hexham, Northumberland

£8.92 to £10.74 per hour (30 hours per week + sleep ins)

We are currently recruiting for  a proactive and experienced support worker who has experience of dealing with complex behaviours to provide person-centred care and support for a young man with learning disabilities living in his own home in Hexham.

Your role will be to support our clients to live independently in their own homes, access the community and surrounding areas, to access interests and activities. You will be integrated into an established and passionate staff team who are hard working and dedicated to ensuring the highest level of care is delivered to our clients. Effective communication and professionalism are essential skills required for this role as you will be expected to produce professional working documents and liaise with professionals from both Social Care and Health Care background as well as the families of our clients. You must have experience and be comfortable working with and dealing with complex behaviours daily.

MALE SUPPORT WORKER  - Haltwhistle, Northumberland

Day Services

 

DAY FARMING ACTIVITY SUPERVISOR - Hexham, Northumberland - £11.97 per hour 

Part time 14 hours (2 days per week)

Due to new opportunities Natural Ability require staff to join our day services team in Northumberland.  

We are looking for an individual who is skilled in supporting vulnerable adults or those with learning difficulties. You will have the ability to support others to learn new skills, enjoy new experiences and the therapeutic benefits that working outdoors in the Northumberland countryside brings. You will be creative and experienced in delivering activities within an outdoor learning environment and have knowledge and an interest in horticulture.

 

Patience, kindness and strong interpersonal skills will be essential as well as the ability to work in a group setting and support volunteers. Previous experience, professionalism and commitment to providing the highest standard of service and support are crucial. Volunteer Trustee (unpaid role)

We are seeking dynamic trustees who have the skills to help Natural Ability to grow its services for children and adults with learning difficulties in the North East. We are looking for individuals to join our Board who are passionate about offering choices, opportunities and enabling people with learning difficulties to live safe and independent lives across the region.

The main priorities of our trustees are to support the work of Natural Ability through strong strategic vision and leadership, oversee risk and compliance requirements, assist to raise the profile of the organisation and to maximise the organisation’s impact on the people it supports.

We are looking for individuals that have a strong interest in promoting opportunities and choice for people with learning difficulties and who will be committed to the ethos and values of the organisation. We are actively seeking candidates that have experience of finance and marketing and will value candidates that have previous experience in governance.

Candidates will be required to attend monthly Board meetings and may be required to support at other times in relation to specific events or marketing opportunities.

The post of Trustee is unpaid, however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Natural Ability began as the brainchild of one determined parent and her friend who was acutely aware of the gap in provision for her own son.  From there we have grown to provide support via independent supported living services, day services and provide an alternative education provision.  We provide bespoke support unique to the individual and believe that everyone regardless of ability has the right to make choices about how they live their lives.
