Natural Ability -

for people with learning and other disabilities

Very many thanks to all our great runners at the Great North Run. Everyone finished the run and we have raised over £4,000 towards our Day Farmers' Community Garden projects. It's not too late to donate - just click here to go to our MyDonate page

Welcome to our website!

Natural Ability works with and for people of all ages with learning disabilities offering bespoke education for young people with complex needs, rural supported living, training and work experience in agriculture, land-based work and animal care and horticulture.

About us

Natural Ability was established in 2009 to promote the health and wellbeing of people with learning and other disabilities and help them gain independence and greater self-esteem. We do this by building on people's strengths and aspirations helping them to be included in the community and developing high quality services in response to their needs.

Where we work

Natural Ability is based in the west of Northumberland in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We work throughout Northumberland, and into Co Durham, Cumbria and Newcastle

We work with...

children, young people and adults (from age 3 upwards) with a range of learning and other disabilities, some of whom may also have Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or complex needs. Some may exhibit behaviour which others can find challenging.

Have a look at some recent research about the benefits of Personal Health Budgets for adults with learning disabilities on our "Services for adults" page

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission. Click here to see our latest inspection report.

We can also offer Day Farming opportunities to people with Dementia and those recovering from long-term mental ill-health.
